Ron's Artist Bio:

I live and work in Palo Alto, California. My early career was as a research physicist and then a R&D executive. Art is my second career. Art has become part of my lifelong quest to explore and experiment. I have relied on independent studies and workshops with contemporary watercolorists of national and international reputation, and a lot of practice and experimentation. I am a member and Nautilus Fellow of the International Society of Experimental Artists and I have served on the Boards of the Pacific Art League (Palo Alto, CA) and Silicon Valley Open Studios. I have participated in many national juried exhibitions and won multiple awards. My interest and focus is at the intersection of art and technology, constantly experimenting with new forms and techniques of artistic expression. That artistic expression can best be described as ‘Contemporary Landscapes’. I work with mixed watermedia, mixed media and digital.

Artist Statement:

“I think of my work as ‘Contemporary Landscapes’. It is an expression of my inner feelings inspired by nature and the world around me. As a trained physicist, I have come to appreciate the artistic beauty, grandeur and emotion found in nature, and in landscapes in general. I am inspired by a store of memories and experiences observing nature from mountainous wonder, to pastoral landscape, to intimate patterns and textures. I describe them as ‘contemporary’ as they are abstracted to be suggestive. I utilize texture, color, perspective, bold composition and degree of abstraction to be suggestive and provide emphasis. I work with all variety of water based media to exploit the spontaneity, flow and blending qualities of the media. I constantly experiment, searching for new means to express the amazing variety and splendor found in the natural scene, in my quest for more compelling ‘contemporary landscapes’.”
